Burke's death

From Victoria the Golden
Parliamentary Library of Victoria

Strutt was a meticulous researcher who wanted his expedition pictures to be as accurate as possible.  However, he made one mistake here, showing the gun in Burke's hand as an old-fashioned flintlock pistol, when in fact it was a modern colt revolver. The green plant in the foreground is nardoo, and beside Burke we can see a pile of nardoo 'seeds' and stones for grinding them.  The man kneeling over Burke is John King.
