Reproduced with permission from the National Library of Australia

Journal of Robert O'Hara Burke

Burke did not keep a systematic journal, but this is his most consistent attempt to do so.  The entries cover 16 December 1860 to 28 March 1861.

A transcript of the journal can be read online at Burke and Wills Web.

Journal of William Wills

The journal kept by Wills after they had retuned from Carpentaria to Cooper's Creek and found the depot abandoned.  It recounts the attempt in April-June 1861 to move south along the creek towards settlements in South Australia, and includes Wills' day-by-day account of his slow physical decline.
The original pages and full transcript are available online at the National Library's website.

Expedition narrative by John King

An account of the trek from Cooper's Creek to the Gulf of Carpentaria by the only survivor of the expedition.  Date of writing not known.
