The South Australian Museum holds one of the two breastplates which have come to light in recent years. The other is in the National Museum of Australia [1]. They were commissioned as medals of recognition to those who had helped the explorers after they had returned to Cooper's Creek, and who had kept King alive until he was found by Howitt.
